This was the standard issue shirt that was worn by US Army personnel throughout the Second World War - both in the field and as part of the dress uniform. Size tag in the collar indicates that this is a size 15-32. This is the pattern that incorporated the "gas flap", which forms a barrier at the shirts opening to prevent the entry of chemical contaminants.
