Description: For sale is an original painting by the eclectic Woodstock, New York conceptualist artist Franklin Ross ("Bud") Drake (1929 - 2001) Provenance: Family (Niece) of the artist. This whimsical abstract artwork features three central circular forms surrounded by what looks to be the scalloped edges of a serving platter. Or perhaps just a border of some sort. Numerous organic blobs of color float throughout the picture along with the white hand which is a signature motif in Bud Drake's artworks. The painting appears to be gouache and watercolor on panel board. It is mounted in a late 19th century Victorian mahogany picture frame. Condition: The antique frame with age appropriate wear. The painting in overall good condition with only minor wear to some edge areas. They can be generally measured by decades, in bursts of activity in Philadelphia and its rural environs and Woodstock, N.Y., and Manhattan, punctuated by excursions (courtesy of the U.S. Army) to Korea and Japan, and through Europe (supported by awards won in competition), summers in Ogunquit, Maine, and on the road to Texas. His whole life was a work in progress and, like his art, subject to periodic revision and improvement, and always an adventure.
