However instead of brass, for WWII Steel flare pistols were the norm, a much more sturdy metal when used in the field. It is marked on the right side of the frame with PISTOL SIGNAL IN No1 MK5 & No1 2AThese examples are in very good condition, with very nice aluminum grips with an intact lanyard ring. The side of the barrel and receiver are both stamped with serial numbers 095616 & 013718 respectively.
