Description: This Sony TR-67 is a Transistor Radio introduced in Japan in November 1957.It was designed to replace the TR-66 and the TR-61. The case was changed to put the volume and tuning knobs on the front and top,so that it could be easily operated while carried in a purse or bag.It was only sold in Japan, for 12,300 yen, and only for a few months. It is approximately 205MM wide X 107MM tall X 45MM deep. This radio uses three standard UM-2 (C Cell) 1.5 Volt batteries. It covers the AM frequency range from 535KC to 1605KC. It has a built-in Ferrite Rod Antenna, and the External Antenna Jack next to the Earphone Jack can be used for connecting an External Antenna up to 15 meters long, for increasing the radio's sensitivity and reducing its directional reception. The TR-67 has a 3.5" Round Loudspeaker, switched off by the Earphone Jackfor private listening when an earphone is plugged in. This radio appears to have its original electronic components, includingits grey oval-shaped SONY Transistors. It does not play well at all, producing a barely audible hiss, and occasional barely audible speech when tuned to a very strong station. The radio is clearly in need of repair, and is not guaranteed to work. The Volume Knob and the Tuning Knob both turn easily without producing static, and the string that moves the Tuning Indicator works reliably. There are no cracks, chips or deep scratches anywhere on the Cabinet. It is in outstanding condition! There are minor blemishes, like tarnish on the brass fixtures. These are discussed below, and also in the description of the Photos. One of the Nippon Chema-Con capacitors inside the radio has a visible factorydate code that indicates this TR-67 was built shortly after October 1957. This radio displays really well, but needs repairs before it can play well. The photos are part of the description, and point out bothfeatures and defects. Many of the defects are hard to see, and are includedfor completeness. I want you to be happy with this TR-67 when you receive it, so pleasedon't hesitate to ask questions or ask for additional photos if needed. Photo #1 shows the front of the cabinet. The embossed white letters above the speaker read "TRANSISTOR SIX". There are small stains, scuffs, and scratches on the surface of the plastic case. The gold trapezoid on the right is very clean, andis topped by the new SONY Logotype on a rectangular metal badge. The tuning pointer moves easily when the tuning knob is turned. The Cabinet is "tropicalized" with screens to prevent insects and spiders from entering. Photo #2 has a close look at the "OFF" and "LOUD" indicators for the Volume Knob, and the red mark on the knob aligns with the "OFF" position when it clicks "off". Photo #3 shows the slot at the upper end of the Case where the Leather Shoulder Strap was attached. The Leather strap has broken off, and is not included. Photo #5 shows the round identifier embossed with "SONY JAPAN TR 67", indicating that the TR-67 was marketed after January 1st, 1958, when the companywas renamed SONY CORP. The new SONY Logotype is embossed in the decoration near the top of the back cover. Photo #7 shows the other of the two slots for the Leather Shoulder Strap. The Leather Shoulder trap is not included! Photo #8 has a better look at the Tuning Indicators, including the small red arrowheads for the two Civil Defense Frequencies. Photo #9 shows the bottom of the Cabinet, where there are no plastic feet to support the radio. The bottom has small stains, scuffs, and scratches that are visible in strong light. Photo #10 shows the Brass Earphone Jack and the External Antenna Jack on the top of the Cabinet. Neither were tested due to the extremely weak signal received by the radio. The Earphone Jack has the larger diameter opening where the plug is inserted. No Earphone or External Antenna are included! Photo #11 shows the interior of the radio. It also shows the Serial Number. This is one of the last Sony Models using the oval-shaped Transistors. The Alkaline batteries shown in this photo are not included! Photo #12 shows the Label inside the back Cover that identifies the Model, the Batteries, the Frequency Range, and the Corporation name and location. The Cover is very clean and free of cracks, chips, and blemishes! There is one small mark on the middle right that was made by a soldering iron. The clear plastic tube to contain the three batteries is included. The three Alkaline Batteries are not included.A worn Leather Carrying Case is included, but no leather carrying straps are included. No External Antenna is included. No Earphone is included. The radio will be shipped inside its leather case.It will be enclosed inside a water-tight ziplock Bag to protect the radio and the case.It will be double-boxed for shipment to avoid damage.
