Description: Offered for your consideration is a vintage Outers no. 477 Gunslick Rifle Cleaning Kit for .30 caliber, USA-manufactured c.1960. This nicely preserved kit has instructions for use printed on the inner lid. It appears to be complete and contains the following as shown in the photo directly above: ● Outers 445 Gun Oil, silicone formula ● Outers Gunslick Gun Cleaning Solvent, nitro powder solvent ● Outers Gunslick Anhydrous Graphitic, graphite lube ● Outers Gunslick Gun Cleaning Patches ● aluminum cleaning rod, in three sections ● bronze wire brush ● rod tips (2) ● parts tray (2) So, please see my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this Outers .30 cal. rifle kit should be yours. This Outers Gunslick kit is in relatively clean, very good condition. The heavy gauge steel container is enameled red and measures 13⅝” wide by 4⅜” deep by just over 1½” tall. There are no dents, notable scratches, or rust, just a few tiny dings and marks from the years, as pictured. Plus, the sturdy brass clasp holds the halves together tightly. And, the assembled cleaning rod, with either tip or brush, measures some 32”; plenty long for the majority of .30 cal. barrels out there. In addition, the Gun Oil can has contents but it’s hard to tell how much—less than half I believe—and the Gun Cleaning Solvent is about half full. Plus, the little graphite lube tube doesn’t appear to have been used. The cleaning rod, brush, and attachments are in great shape, and the kit even comes with the original piece of thick cardboard to act as a barrier between the rod sections and the lid. And, the rigid paper storage box is a bit shelf worn, but completely intact. Unfortunately, at some point, Oil or Solvent leaked inside the tin. I think it was the Gun Cleaning Solvent bottle, but am not sure. Consequently, the box of Cleaning Patches—close to, or perhaps even full of patches—soaked up the leak along with the Solvent box. Also, I wiped down the inside of the tin but residual fluid reappears from the boxes lying down. If the patches are indeed soaked in Solvent, there’s no need to waste them? And, another silver lining would be zero rust on the 60+ year old steel tin! As pictured and described, this Outers Gunslick Rifle Cleaning Kit for .30 cal. is offered at a competitive price.
