Description: This is a great looking US NAVY - USS Waddell (DDG-24) challenge coin. Coin has reeded edges and is about 1 9/16" in diameter. Front side of coin is printed and colorized (black & white) while the rear side is raised lettering and gold plated. Coin is contained in an acrylic air tight holder.USS Waddell (DDG-24) was a Charles F. Adams-class guided missile armed destroyer in the United States Navy. She was named for Captain James Iredell Waddell CSN (1824-1886). The ship was commissioned in 1964 and saw service in the Vietnam War. Decommissioned in 1992, the destroyer was sold to Greece and renamed Nearchos. From 1992-2003, Nearchos served in the Hellenic Navy. In 2006, the ship was used as a target and sunk.
