Description: Up for sale is the Scarce first English "free translation" of the late Chief D.O. Fagunwa's novel Ogboju Ode Ninu Igbo Irunmale, the most famous of all works of Yoruba fiction published by Thomas Nelson and Sons in London, 1968. Whether or not such a lofty allegory was intended, The Forest of a Thousand Daemons at the disposal of a wider reading public as story whose main themes are universal and time honoured. The type of Fantasy in it may have a touch peculiar to the Yoruba, and there is no reason why it shouldn't, but the quest for lasting happiness and peace of mind, and the hazards of that quest belong to all mankind. Wole Soyinka, the author of this ( translation/adaptrion of the) novel, is the leading Nigerian playwright. A Dance of the Forest, Brother Jero, The Strong Breed, The Lion and the Jewel, which was produced at the Royal Court Theatre in 1967, these plays and a number of Poems...are some of Mr. Soyinka's literary achievments..."
