Description: This wood thread cutting kit will effortlessly cut strong, tight fitting male/female OD/ID threads in wood for use in vises, clamps, toys, furniture, puzzles, fixtures and more. Each tap requires a starter hole (drill bit not included). Straight-grain and round hardwood dowels work best. Oil dowel with mineral or boiled linseed oil (not included), or better yet, soak dowel in oil for several days before machining to reduce friction and tearout. The two-handled thread box cuts the male threads. Polypropylene thread box includes ergonomic 2-1/2" long x 1" diameter turned handles for secure and easy gripping. Thread box has aluminum inserts to prevent excessive wear. Designed to allow easy chip clearance. The matching tap die cuts the internal female threads. Hardened steel taps are machined to close tolerances.
