Set of 4 Vintage (1938-1952) Fire-King "RAINBOW" Asstd. PASTEL Footed Sherberts

Description: Here is a set of four (4) PASTEL Footed Sherberts which were part of the Anchor Hocking pattern "RAINBOW". Rainbow was a "Fire-King" offering where the color was fired onto clear glass. This technique made it possible to offer bright and vivid colors that might not be possible if the color were infused into the glass before forming. Although initially released as four primary colors (Tangerine (red), blue, green and yellow) they soon after added four "Pastel" colors: Pink, Blue, Green and Yellow. The pastel colors are harder to find than the primary colors. This set contains a sherbert in each of the four pastel colors. All of the sherberts are in superior condition with only one small nick on the foot of the pink one. Virtually no loss of the fired-on colors. The sherberts stand 3½ inches tall and are 3 5/8 inches in diameter at their top rims and 2 13/16 in diameter on the foot. In the 1930s Anchor Hocking innovated a process of "firing-on" colors onto clear glass pieces. It was a novel idea which I believe enabled the manufacture of glass pieces using more striking and distinctive colors. In their 1939 catalogue Anchor Hocking introduced an extensive line of glass dinnerware and accessories they called "Rainbow". Rainbow came in four "Primary" colors: Tangerine (red), Green, Blue and Yellow. Four pastel colors were also offered which were called Pink, Green, Blue and Yellow. Rainbow was discontinued in the early 1950s. These stylings were a major influence in the movement we now call Mid-Century Modern. These sherberts are examples of the four Pastel colors: Pink, Blue, Green and Yellow. Reasonable offers are welcomed. I respond quickly to all offers.
