The water flows upward when heated in the panel. When this water enters the tank (positioned higher than the solar panel), it use the thermo-siphon principle to have the heated water remains at the top storage tank, so that heat transfer takes place without the need for a pump. A typical system with a 40G or 50G at a sunny region can serve 3-4 person home, with 15 or 18 vacuum tubes collector.
