Description: Absolutely stunning early Rhode Island note from the 1743/44 (original issue, not re-dated). These bills were issued by the “eighth bank” and were backed by silver. These notes featured an elaborately engraved face and the English arms at the bottom right. Although tattered, this is the only surviving 10 Shilling example and it is relatively legible. Incredible 1/1 early colonial for the price.
