Description: SCARCE PRR PENNSY RAILROAD ARTIFACT! T1 STEAM ENGINE! MAKE AN OFFER! This offer of rare playing cards is a true gem for collectors and history enthusiasts alike. Manufactured in the United States in 1943, during World War 2, these Pennsylvania Railroad PRR cards depict the legendary 4-4-4-4 "Power" PRR T-1 streamline steam locomotive in an industrial steel mill setting. This was also used by the PRR for a calendar and as other illustrations. This lot includes the box and 5 original gold-border cards. (Again, only 5 cards remain from the deck, there are NO others with it. However. to display it, you can easoly stick another old card deck into the box ). These were distributed to soldiers using the line to and from the war and many of these Pennsy T1 playing card sets did not survive their travel overseas. This example was likely with its original owner for decades. The box is somewhat worn with some damage to the edges and no longer glued together as a square, but since it's a single unit, it and the five cards will ship flat as a result. The cards are categorized under Collectibles, Transportation, Railroadiana & Trains, and Paper, and are a great addition to any collection of vintage memorabilia. The year aspect of the cards is 1943, reminding us of the crucial role the Pennsylvania Railroad played in the transportation of troops and supplies during the war, and the legendary T-1 duplex locomotive. Add this unique item to your collection today. I can ship flat but Ebay will not let me use the standard envelope shipping option in this category. I will refund the shipping difference if you want that option but cannot track the shipping.
