Often confused with [Charles] Tissot watches (who for many years were closely tied to Omega), this Tissot firm was named for its founder Edmond Mathey-Tissot. It was established in June, 1886 in the town of Les Ponts-de-Martel. I am pleased to offer for sale the following timepiece from the firm, a men’s late 1960s mechanical wind DRESS model in solid stainless steel. This quadruple-signed timepiece is in PRISTINE original condition; my photos don’t do the dial or case justice. It measures 40.5mm lug tip to lug tip and 34.5mm in width (34.5mm with Mathey-Tissot signed crown). In inches this works out to be just shy of 1-5/8 inches long by 1-3/8 inches wide, not counting the crown. It is a SLIM 7.7MM thick, including the crown. It is powered by its original Mathey-Tissot 17j manual wind mechanism, fully serviced by my watchmaker to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. The 100% original silver, finely brushed enamel finished dial is in mint condition, guaranteed untouched since it left the M-T workshops. It features black enamel roman numerals and original BLUE STEEL Breguet-style hands. Signed Mathey-Tissot below the 12 and Swiss Made at the base of the dial. The original low dome acrylic crystal is in excellent condition . The two-piece case is Solid Stainless Steel and in excellent shape, no wear or scratches. It is a SLIM 7.7mm thick, including the crystal. The original MT signed winding crown is in excellent order as well, operating smoothly. Turning the watch over reveals a stainless steel back lid in perfect condition, even retaining its original satin brush finishing. A case serial number of 272974 is noted. Inside I find a clean, yellow gold finished mechanism signed Mathey-Tissot, Swiss, Seventeen 17 Jewels, QZO. Below the balance wheel the caliber 406 is stamped. The inside of the case lid is stamped MATHEY-TISSOT – STAINLESS STEEL, SWISS. This watch has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted with a new Fluco, Germany 19mm black ‘Consul’ smooth calf leather strap with matching stainless steel buckle for a perfect combination. A less often seen vintage Mathey-Tissot “Dress Dial” mechanical in pristine, ready to wear shape!
