Description: This is a P41 herringbone utility jacket (shirt, blouse), owned and worn by a PFC in the 4 Div USMC during WW2 (my dad), who landed on Roi-Namur, Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima. As you can see in the photos, several repairs have been made to this jacket. These repairs were done some time in the 50's or 60's. The large patch on the elbow of the left sleeve is only covering a thin wear spot, as you can see in the photo with the sleeve turned inside out. The other repairs are due to minor rips, and wear areas. As far as why the repairs were made, that was just the way my mom did things back then. If a piece of clothing was torn, she would fix or repurpose it. After the repairs were made, the jacket saw very little wear. I think my older brother tried to wear it a time or two, but my dad shut that down right away. This jacket has hung in the back of the closet my entire lifetime (I am 54 years old), and it had been hanging for quite some time before that. The jacket also has some staining on the front, as you can see in the photos. All of the buttons are intact (not missing any). If you are looking for a mint condition museum piece, this is not it. If you are looking for a very worn piece with some 60-70 year old repairs, and plenty of character, this might be for you. Please ask BEFORE you buy, if you need to see additional photos, or have any specific questions. Measurements: * Shoulder seam to shoulder seam = 19" * Pit seam to pit seam = 21" * Pit to sleeve cuff = 19" * Top shoulder seam to sleeve cuff = 22.25" * Front top neck to bottom hem = 25" * Back top of collar to bottom hem = 29.75"
