ITM was founded by Jack Joyce and Kevin Healey while they were both 'backpacking' through South America. They were talking to each other about the lack of decent maps for South America. So they started ITM to produce and sell maps of the places that 'backpackers' traveled to that didn't have good maps. And they grew into one of the world's largest map publishers by creating very good maps of places where the larger map publishers didn't think there was a market. They also used local 'guides' to create the maps so that the information was correct. They now have a very large catalog of maps for the 'forgotten' or ignored destinations. This is the ITM Map of El Salvador and Nicaragua. These two countries comprise part of the Central America Golden Triangle. Although there has been unrest in both countries over the past couple of years, it appears that it is becoming a tourist destination once again. The map is on a scale of 1:250,000 and 1:700,000.
