Description: Beautiful, stylish free form vintage Scandinavian hand blown glass low bowl. Possibly by Bergdala, Sweden. Bergdala was a glasshouse founded in 1889, currently associated with Skruf and Svenska Glasbruk. I have seen this attributed to Holmegaard (Demark) but Holmegaard typically signs their work and the base is typically more elaborate with a convex lense form on the inside of the bowl which this does not have. Ikea produced some bowls like this for a season as part of their Designer Collection, designed by Lotta Pettersson clearly inspired by Holmegaard and the works of Per Lutken. However those bowls have a flat polished base and this one has a carefully polished half-moon where the pontil mark was which is something you dont see on mass produced items. So I am not sure of its origin, but it is a lovely modernist bowl and definitely handblown and hand polished. I currently have 2 of these. They make wonderful consul bowls and are an instant mid-century classic. measures 10" x 8" by 4" tall at its highpoint. Very good condition some minor scratches to base from regular wear.
