Description: This is an 1884 Original STEEL ENGRAVING of MARCUS BRUTUSMarcus Junius Brutus (85 BCE—42 BCE, near Philippi, Macedonia) was a Roman politician, one of the leaders in the conspiracy that assassinated Julius Caesar in 44 BCE. Brutus was the son of Marcus Junius Brutus (who was treacherously killed by Pompey the Great in 77) and Servilia (who later became Caesar’s lover). After his adoption by an uncle, Quintus Servilius Caepio, he was commonly called Quintus Caepio Brutus.Overall Dimensions of sheet are approximately 14.5" x 10.75"  The head image measures approx. 5.25" x 2.75".  There is titling below. In Very Good Used Condition, vibrant crisp lines, no chips or tears, there may be some faint creasing, age spots, etc., see photos for condition - these are of the actual print you will receive.  Unmounted and unframed, the condition of the image is excellent and the sheet is very good.Original Steel Engraving by the French engraver Paul Rodolphe Joseph Dujardin for Gebbie & Co., Philadelphia, 1884 edition of THE ILLUSTRATED HISTORY OF ROME.Steel engraved plates produced much sharper and more distinct lines than the copper plates they replaced.
