Description: This lot consists of 4 metal Japanese submarines. All are a bit dirty, gray in color (Ro 90 is a very light gray – the others are darker) and appear to be intact, except possibly model Ro 90, which appears to be missing its antenna. I have no information on how old these models are, who manufactured them or where they came from (they were found in a box with other waterline ship models on a storage shelf here at Wings of Hope). Three subs have their ship numbers scratched into the bottom of the hull and two, I-53 and Ro 90, also have the numbers stamped into the starboard side of the hull. The following subs are included: I-7 3 9/16” long 1/1200 scale / Wrecked 6-22-43 I-53 3 5/16” long 1/1300 scale / Surrendered 1945 / scuttled 4-1-46 Ro 90 2 9/16” long Unknown scale and no information found / Ro class was for coastal defense (Possible Missing Antenna) Unidentified / assumed Japanese because found with other Japanese subs A nice collection of items for the collector of militaria or the military history / naval history enthusiast. Scale size is estimated. Wings of Hope, twice nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, is a nonprofit organization that changes and saves lives through the power of aviation. In the U.S., we provide medical air transport services – free of charge – to individuals needing access to specialized medical care. Outside of the U.S., we work in nine countries with in-country partners flying people in remote areas to emergency medical care and doctors into communities with no local health care.
