An important feature is the extensive Italian-surname index of ships' passengers included in each volume. These indexes, containing about 750,000 names for the 1 period, will greatly facilitate the task of finding an ancestor's family name. Each volume also contains an introduction on the history of Italian migration to the US, with statistical data showing the total Italian emigration to other selected countries.
