Description: Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice. Signed personally by Anne Rice in May 1986. The book is a Ballantine Paperback, 1985 11th printing of this edition. This cover and edition seems to be rather rare. Please see pics and condition note. Ask any questions you may have. I will ship this well wrapped by USPS Ground Advantage Shipping. The story of the inscription: In the 80s, my parents owned a bookstore, so we went to booksellers conventions every year. There were signings by all kinds of authors, with lines snaking around the convention floors for the extremely popular authors. My brother and I were headed to get something to eat, and passed by the back end of the Ballentine booth. The line for food was longer than the line to get this "vampire" book signed by the author, who was dressed all in black. In fact, I don't think we would have stood in line for the signing if it wasn't less than ten people. In my mind, there wasn't anyone waiting, but that may be a reconstruction. Neither of us knew who the author was or what the book was. We were in our teens. Anne Rice was very nice, signed a book for both of us (mine is actually in worse shape, because I read it), and we went off to the food courts. It was only later that we were told this was an author and book of any kind of significance. The strangeness of the short line and why she was signing it at the publishers booth instead of in the book signing areas (set up for lines and some slight crowd control) was never lost on me. Even then, when Rice wasn't so well known outside of her genre, it doesn't make sense that this even occurred. Interview With A Vampire was a very good selling book, and Rice had added to the series by then. But how I remember it is that this small dark haired woman, all in black, was basically sitting all alone next to a stack of books. So we walked right up and she signed a couple copies for us with a slight smile on her face. Condition note: The item in the pictures is what you will receive. This is the 11th Printing (1985) of the Ballantine paperback edition. Nearly 40 years old. It was signed by Anne Rice in person for my brother, Aaron, in May 1986. The book itself has not been read, but there is a fair amount of edge and cover wear. The pages show yellowing, but this was a mass market printing, so the paper is not of great quality in the first place (did not begin life as white pages). There is excess spine glue residue on the spine. The wear near the spine on the cover is from opening the cover to have it signed, look at, and take pictures of the inscription. Please see pics and ask any questions you may have.
