Media Grading: Glossy strong VG+ Sleeve Grading: VG+ I’m getting nostalgic with this one; Gold Panda’s debut LP from the artist’s own label NOTOWN and our hometown-ish heroes GHOSTLY INTERNATIONAL One of the best releases of 2010 and underrated on that front. I seriously think this one opened the door for a lot of stuff that kind of walked the line between electronic and indie (such as Ghostly international label mates like Matthew Dear or acts like TOBACCO/BLACK MOTH SUPER RAINBOW or even mainstream stuff like Flume or something more relevant like IDK… I have aged out of the market segment group whose opinion has value or merit so ahhh let’s just say 100 Gecs. How bout some personal trivia for you knuckle heads. One of my fav aging indie-head show brags was seeing Gold Panda open for HEALTH at a tiny coffee shop in the modest college town of Kalamazoo, Michigan circa February 2010, a full 7 months before the release of his 1st LP. Maybe 40 heads in attendance tops but that might be stretching. That place was the size of a high school classroom. But I’m pretty sure at that point “You” had gain some traction on the blogosphere (I hate the word and yet I miss those days an embarrassing amount) but I don’t think he had any real official releases at that point other than the “Quitter’s Raga” single (great track with a great b-side).
