The difference between a laser engraved tumbler and other, non engraved designs, is laser engraving involves removing the pink coat down to the stainless steel, meaning it won’t chip off or wear away with use including the dishwasher. Other designs are added on top of the color coat, making it susceptible to chipping and design wear in the dishwasher and with regular use. Many others for sale are color added on top, thus by nature will not last as long as engraved designs. This is why laser engraving is worth more. ****Due to the overwhelming demand for these, the approved retailers (who decorate them with Hello Kitty as it’s not a true collaboration) have started using different model cups without “Since 1913” under the logo. Please do not be alarmed. They are all being made like that now, for the most part. If you go to the Stanley website, you will see that they have removed the “Since 1913” on the newer models.
