Description: This is an original antique map from an old newspaper, HARPER'S WEEKLY, an illustrated newspaper published in 1870. The prints in this series are printed on what is called rag paper, a paper that is stronger and far more enduring than the newspaper we know today. TITLE: HARPER'S WAR MAP OF FRANCE ARTIST: NOT IDENTIFIED CONDITION: GOOD / NOT PEFECT -- This print is clear, clean, and bright. Excellent definition. Nice clean, sharp lines, and wide margins. And, no holes in the centerfold which is quite rare for these large centerfold engravings. However, there is a small split with a hole in the center where the centerfolds intersect and a few splits in the folds at the edge. The splits are easily repaired. The hole would require some expertise to do it properly. That said it's in very good shape for a map of this size from Harper's. This print is about 145 years old and guaranteed to be original.
