Description: Fine pair antique Reinhold Hanke stoneware salt glaze elaborate ewers.Each measures 13 1/2" high, 7 1/2" wide and 2 1/2" deep.Very elaborately and diversely decorated. Highlighted by the other worldly crowned and bearded face in the center surrounded with reticulated holes. which go through the pottery. The huge birds feet at the base are incredible. Another figure adorns the front or spout of each and yet another figure decorates the handle side of each.Colors include blue, black, blue/green, 2 shades of brown. The initials JHS are central and the numerals 1544 are prominent.One ewer has one fairly large chip on the handle as well as a very small chip below that. There is another chip on the front of that ewer. The other ewer has no damage at all.
