Description: On an October day in 1959, Cliff Richard and The Shadows catapulted to number one in the UK charts with Travellin' Light. It was the first single released under the name Cliff Richard and The Shadows after they changed their original name. US formation The Drifters had claimed the name as first-comers, and so a new band name was due. At the suggestion of bassist Jet Harris, the name The Shadows was then born during a band meeting at the 'Six Bells' pub in Ruislip.Cliff Richard and The Shadows: The Best Of Rock'n'Roll Pioneers is released as a 2-CD collection focusing - for the first time - entirely on Cliff's output with The Shadows (or The Drifters for releases prior to October 1959).
