Description: Civil War French Model 1845/55 Foot Officers Sword. The spine has what looks like "Manufacture an Zhornoff Bas Rhin". The sharkskin grip is almost completely gone, a couple very small edges left by the pommel. The twisted wire is complete but loose. The grip barely moves if you force it, the pommel is a little loose, and the guard is loose. The etched blade has a "US" on it, overall it straight, unsharpened, some nicks, a darkened patina, blunted tip, and has pitting on the lower half (heaviest on the last 3 1/2" by the tip). Washer is missing. No scabbard. Length of the blade is 29 1/2" (1 1/8" wide and 1/4" thick), and the sword is 35 1/8". Check out my other Civil War Items! Including Several Swords and Many Bayonets!
