Description: DATING TO THE 1860’S FASHIONED OF A FINE BLACK WORSTED WOOL BROAD CLOTH AND APPEARS TO BE SEWN BY HAND FULLY THROUGHOUT WITH ALL OF THE EDGES SCALLOPED AND EMBROIDERED WITH DARK GREEN WITH LIGHTER TWO TONE GREEN SOUTACHE DETAIL FOLLOWING ALL OF THE BORDERS. THE SOUTACHE IS IN A BEAUTIFUL FLORAL PATTERN. TRIPLE VENTED IN THE REAR. SLEEVES SET OFF THE SHOULDER WITH A SLIGHT FLARING AT THE BOTTOM CUFF AND COLLAR AROUND THE NECKLINE. CONDITION: THERE ARE PERIOD MENDS TAKEN ON THE RIGHT FRONT JUST ASIDE THE UNDERARM SEAM WITH ANOTHER PERIOD MEND BENEATH THE UNDERARM SEAM. THEY ARE SO WELL EXECUTED THAT THEY ARE COMPLETELY UNSEEN. A GROUPING OF PINHEAD HOLES ON THE LEFT CHEST AND SHOULDER THAT ARE HARD TO NOTE. A FINGERTIP HOLE SEEN ON THE BOTTOM LEFT SIDE WITH TWO PINHEAD HOLES ON THE BACK. SO VERY HARD TO FIND THESE EARLY ZOUAVE JACKETS.
