Description: Properly speaking what we call flint in North America is really chert. The difference is meaningful to a handful of geologists. Flint and chert both are formed in a water environment, so it will sometimes have tiny holes, it may have banding. Being in my 80's, I can't remember where I got everyone of my rocks, so this is the flint of unknown origin.
