Side 1 has some faint superficial spindle/scuff marks that did create light & intermittent background surface noise, and I would consider it a solid VG+ grade. Side 2 is quite nice with barely any marks and playing strong VG+.Cover Grade: Very Good Plus (VG+) *main flaw is heavy seam wear with open spots along spine and a couple of spots on top seam; creasing at various spots, corner bump lower rh, wear spots on frontNotes: "Drum Night at Birdland" provides a driving, pulsating, "wailing" date with several of the greatest jazz drum soloists engaged in exchanges and playing together. The event took place on April 25th, 1960, and the featured drummers were Art Blakey, Charlies Persip, Elving Jones and "Philly " Joe Jones. This live recording is one of those rare, spontaneous recordings of jazz history in the making.
