Description: This chest is very unusual , first off has original paint decoration , decoration is wonderful , paint could possibly be cleaned , overall minor loss as shown, the chest is paneled first off with cut out feet on the sides which also has a molding around the base like a chest would with turned feet ! , for whatever reason the chest has two early butt hinges that are slightly different sizes , I assume its what the maker had ?? No evidence of any other hinges ever ! , the inside of the chest is completely flat not chamfered like most from our area , on the back of the chest the panels are mortised through , the front is mitered. I found this one very unusual , perhaps from a certain region ? Was recovered in Connecticut I guess it’s possible to be a New England chest, could be a southern chest , what it is , well usable and affordable !
