Description: I have always believed these candlesticks were 18th-century Chelsea Derby until I began researching Edme Samson, a french copyist from the 19th-century. Now I am not sure and do not want to mislead. You can judge for yourself. They are absolutely beautiful! The workmanship is wonderful. They are 11.75" tall. I rounded up. Years ago, I had a professional repair one of them. Now I can't remember which one was repaired and where it was repaired. He did a great job. I even put a blacklight to it and can't see the repair. There is some wear to the gold around the bases. No cracks or chips. Edme Samson, founder of the porcelain firm Samson, Edme et Cie was a famous copyist of porcelain and pottery. The firm produced high-quality copies or imitations of earlier styles of porcelain, including 18th-century European porcelain like the candlesticks found in this listing. His mark is a gold anchor very similar to the Chelsea Derby mark.
