Description: Lovely - hard to find - Antique Adams English staffordshire ironstone brown transferware two handled footed vegetable / entree dishin the Bologna pattern- c 1830 - Marvelous with elaborate detailed scenes - the center with a landscape with various figures around a lake with gentleman inviting his wife into a gondola in the foreground, the imaginary city of Bologna in the distance. Alternating similar cartouches around the border alternating with flowers, all outlined with shell form scrolls . With an usual striped wavy border, the outer rim edge in relief that mimics the painted design. The most elaborate transferware pattern that I think I have seen! This may have originally had a lid which is no longer - great to use and display! VG condition - there is a small area underneath the foot around the base where seems to have been no glaze originally, so shows original pottery- L 12 1/2 in. W 9 7/8 in. H 2 1/2 in.
