Description: THIS IS A STUNNING AND RARE GENTS VINTAGE 1956 ROLEX OYSTER WRISTWATCH WITH "DEPTH RATED" EXPLORER "HONEYCOMB" DIAL. DESCRIPTION.This is an amazing example of the Rolex Oyster, Ref. 6422 Made in 1956. This Rolex Oyster is a collector's dream and it would be hard to find another this good. Not only does it have the rare and highly desirable "depth rated 50m=165ft" honeycomb affect dial but it has also the "Explorer" 9/3/6 dial configuration. The steel case and bezel are in excellent condition. The original "depth rated" dial is in gorgeous (unrestored) condition. The dial has a lovely golden patina. It has raised gold arrow head batons with numerals at the quarters & gold dagger hands. The very high grade 17 jewels movement has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.To complete this fantastic piece, we've put it on a new super high quality Hirsch strap. CASE.The stainless-steel case and bezel are in amazing condition with extremely light wear. The case measures 34mm across without the Rolex oyster screw-down crown and 40mm long including the lugs. Inside the case back all the marks are correct as expected: Montres Rolex S.A Geneva Switzerland, patented stainless steel. With the Rolex model reference number 6422 and dated I.56 (from the 1st quarter of 1956). It also have many service marking from over the years so it was a very cared for Rolex. DIAL.The honeycombe affect dial is beautiful, it has raised gold spear head batons with gold 9/3/6 Explorer type numerals. This dial is rare as it has the depth rating on the dial like the Rolex Submariner. This Rolex watch oozes 1950s style and elegance.The dial is signed: Rolex Oyster, 50m=165ft, Precision, Swiss. MOVEMENT.The very high grade 17 jewels movement is in very good condition and has been fully serviced. The movement is signed: Montres Rolex S.A, Geneva Swiss, 17 Seventeen jewels.The movement has been fully serviced by our watchmaker. STRAP.To finish this beautiful watch off, it comes on a new, very high quality Hirsch strap. BOX & PAPERS.Like most vintage wristwatches what are over 60 years old, the original certificate and box has been lost or discarded over the years.
