All original Age Patina still mostly intact - very rare to find with age patina intact!!! These impressive 11 1/4" (inch) tall bronze candlesticks, showcasing finely patinated mythological figures of Hermes and Astraea, stand gracefully on stepped bases adorned with a greek urn or vase. Each candlestick features a highly lively animated & finely detailed God / Goddess. The original age patina on the antique candlesticks are beautifully preserved, and the figures exhibit exquisite casting and fine details. These candlesticks would serve as a perfect finishing touch to the decor on a mantlepiece or a chest of drawers, flanking a clock or other beautiful centerpiece. They represent the standards of the Napoleon III style. Hermes, in Greek mythology, is the messenger of the gods and the god of commerce, travel, and cunning. He is often depicted with a winged helmet and sandals, symbolizing his swift and agile nature. Astraea is the Goddess of the Night & she is adorned with a large representative star featured on her headpiece.
