Near Albu-querque, New Mexico, the Solar Thermal Test Facility will soon become fully opera-tional, permitting the evaluation of components needed in the development of this new technology. The field of 222 heliostats to the left of the 200-foot-high test tower will concentrate sunlight onto receivers mounted on the tower. This picture was taken in late January by R. Ezell of Sandia Laboratories, which is responsible for the development and operation of the facility. (See page 286.) REFLECTIONS CONCERNING NEPTUNES "RING" William G.
