Description: Large-format color lithographed fold-out map of North America, published in May 1942, five months after the United States entered World War Two, following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. The map is drawn on a scale of 1:12,000,000 and unfolds to a generous 32½" x 26½". It covers the area from the North Pole to the Panama Canal, including Canada, Greenland, the United States, Mexico, Central America, and the Territory of Alaska. There's an inset of the Aleutian Islands, locating Attu and Kiska, seized by the Japanese in June 1942, just a month after this map was issued. Condition: This map is in very good condition, bright and clean, with no rips, tears, or writing. It is blank on the back, with no printing on the reverse side. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions. This is an original, authentic vintage map, not a reproduction or modern reprint, and it is fully guaranteed to be genuine. It was published by the National Geographic Society, Washington, D.C., as a supplement to the May 1942 issue of The National Geographic Magazine. Buy with confidence!
