Description: Note: Please study the images carefully to determine the condition of this vintage photograph, as it may not be in perfect condition. It may contain wrinkles, cracks, and possibly even tears due to its age and how it was handled before it got to us. A scanner may interpret colors and contrast differently than human eyes will, so it is possible that the actual photograph may be slightly darker or lighter in person. This vintage photograph is offered for sale as a collectible item and conveys no transfer of copyright. 1938 Press Photo Crewmen of Altair return to Alameda after beating Pacific gale "Men Against The Sea" again won over the elements when the Altair, 48-foot yacht in which five young men started for the south seas limped back to Alameda, California after they were battered for three days by a Pacific gale that swept California with storm and torrential rain. They were kept busy bailing, lost a jib sail, and landed tired wet and very hungry--as fears were expressed that the storm had capsized the craft. Back row, left to right are Jack Blinn, Alameda, owner and skipper of the Altair; Harry, Arthur and Hollis O'Hanlon, brothers of Calgary, Canada. In front is Buck O'Hanlon, a cousin of the Canadian brothers. Buck's from Omaha. Photo measures 9 x 7 inches. Photo Is dated 1938.
