Binding is shaken and weak, especially along the rear inner hinge which is almost detached. Last flyleaf is detached. Pages and plates are clean with no markings or foxing. Rear pocket map is clean and very good. One of the scarcer USGS annual reports containing three technical papers, all authored by some of the Survey’s greatest early geologists. In addition, the report contains the report of the director and various administrative reports which describe the workings of the Geological Survey ten years after its formation in 1879, including revisions to color schemes and nomenclature for geological maps that were first adopted by the Survey in Powell’s 2nd annual report.
